Causes of Poverty
There are many causes of poverty in todays modern society, these can include:
Overpopulation:
The situation of having large numbers of people with too less resources and too little space. this can result from either a high population density or from low amounts of resources. High population density pressures the available resources in the country, as the resources can only benefit a certain number of people. over population is caused by large rates which then have major effect on the spread of resources and education.
Environmental degradation:
The deterioration of the natural environment, including the atmosphere, water bodies, soil and forests. Environmental problems have led to shortages of food, clean water, materials for shelter and in some cases clothing and education.
Economic Trends.
As unemployment increases so will the level of poverty. The introducing of large tax's and the increasing capacity of unfair trading also have a large effect on the level of poverty in an area.

Effects of Poverty
The effects of poverty occur with many outcomes at a time. For example, bad sanitation makes it easier to spread around old and new diseases, and hunger and a lack of water make people more vulnerable to these diseases.
Poorer communities, most often suffer from discrimination and end up caught in cycles of poverty. This normally creates lifelong disadvantages and troubles that are passed on from generation to generation. These include no schooling or education, child labour to help out their parents, lack of basic hygiene, and the infection of many diseases.
Unemployment and very low incomes create an environment where children can't simply have an education of there own. For the people fortunate enough to actually go to school, they simply cannot see how working hard can improve their lifestyles as they see their parents fail at the same simple tasks each day.
